1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Bg5 Bb4+ {If anyone with expertise in the nimzo could comment on this particular line I'd appreciate it. I'm basically out of book after 4... c5} 4. Nc3 c5 5. Nf3 h6 6. Bh4 O-O 7. e3 cxd4 {I played cxd4 without much thought, and it turned out to be Rybka's 1st choice, however after looking at it with more depth I don't really understand why it's good. It just felt very natural to release the tension here. Can someone explain why?} 8. Nxd4 Nc6 9. Be2 a6 {9... a6 was a bad move played too quickly, as it doesn't need to be played until after a knight comes to b5 (I think...). In the game, it was just a wasted tempo} 10. O-O Bxc3 {Rybka thinks Be7 is slightly better, but I really wanted to damage his pawn structure while I had the chance} 11. bxc3 Ne5 12. f4 {f4 is a positional mistake. The backward e pawn and hole on e4 prove to be significant long-term weaknesses} Ng6 13. Qe1 Nxh4 14. Qxh4 Ne4 15. Qxd8 Rxd8 16. Rac1 f5 {f5 wasn't a great move, but I liked the idea of securing control of e4 and preventing his f-pawn from advancing. It wasn't until after I played it that I realized how sad it made my bishop.} 17. Bd3 Nc5 18. Bb1 g5 19. fxg5 hxg5 20. Nf3 g4 {... because my bishop wasn't bad enough already....} 21. Nh4 d5 22. cxd5 Rxd5 23. Ng6 Kf7 {The biggest mistake I made in the game, and I realized it as soon as I played it, but luckily my opponent missed his chance to exploit the pinned f-pawn with 24. e4!. In fact, he missed a few good chances to play e4 throughout the game.} 24. Nf4 Re5 25. Rfe1 Bd7 26. Rcd1 Bc6 {Finally! My bishop is liberated, and my position begins to look harmonious and I felt I had a clear positional advantage at this point mainly due to the pawn structure, with piece coordination also an important point.} 27. Rd6 Ne4 28. Bxe4 Bxe4 29. Red1 Rc8 30. Rd7+ {Things were getting scary at this point. His d-file control and advanced knight combined with my exposed king meant I had to be accurate now more than ever.} Ke8 31. Ng6 {I missed that he could play this, threatening various mate in 1's, and I began to freak out. The **only** move to not lose was of course the last move I saw:} Rd5 32. Re7+ Kd8 {My king was dodging bullets here. This wasn't the only time he had one escape square after a scary check} 33. Rxd5+ exd5 34. Rxb7 Rxc3 35. Nf4 Rc1+ 36. Kf2 Rc2+ 37. Kg3 Rxa2 {His weak pawn structure finally starts to pay off, and the rest of the game is a pretty straight forward win. All that is left is to dance my king up the board without blundering} 38. Ne6+ Kc8 39. Rc7+ Kb8 40. Rg7 Rxg2+ 41. Kf4 Rxh2 42. Nc5 Rf2+ 43. Ke5 a5 44. Rb7+ Ka8 45. Re7 g3 46. Re8+ Ka7 47. Re7+ Kb8 48. Re8+ Kc7 49. Re7+ Kb6 50. Na4+ Kc6 51. Re6+ Kb5 52. Nc3+ Kc4 53. Rc6+ Kd3 54. Nd1 Rd2 55. Rc3+ Ke2 56. Rc1 Rxd1 57. Rxd1 Kxd1 58. Kf4 g2 0-1
