[pgn] 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f6? {Just asking for trouble. Notice how open the king is just from that one move. What now? Bc4 looks ok attacking those light squares, but why not be a bit more forceful?} 3. Nxe5! {This makes sense when you think about it, though it's not easy to see if you don't know it beforehand. The queen can now come to h5 to attack the weakened king. Best move here is Qe7 protecting f7 and attacking the e4 pawn indirectly. If Qh5+ then g6 can be played safely because after the Knight takes exploiting the pin, the Queen can take the e4 pawn with check, then take the knight. Instead just retreat and you're up a pawn. The queen can take back but you will have a lead in development after you kick her around some. But if your opponent plays f6 they probably don't know the opening so lets assume they take.} fxe5 4. Qh5+ {Now black has two options which are bad and worse. g6 loses slowly due to the simple Qxe5 followed by the Queen taking the rook. Lets look at the faster win.} Ke7 {Really asking for it now.} 5. Qxe5+ Kf7 {forced} 6. Bc4+ Kg6? 7. Qf5+ Kh6 8. h4 {supporting the g5 square and allowing the rook in if needed.} a6 {say to make things easier} 9. d4+ g5 {if the queen blocks pawn takes is mate} 10. Bxg5 Kg7 {If Queen takes, the queen takes back for mate.} 11. Qf7# [/pgn]
