1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d6 {The old and super solid Philidor defense.} 3. Bc4 {The
very main line is ofc d4. I thought for a while, and decided to take the
opponent a bit aside, even though I am not an expert here. Bc4 brings some
ideas from the Italian game.} (3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 Be7 6. Bc4 O-O 7.
O-O Nc6 {the main line.}) 3... h6 {rare, but fine. stops any Ng5 ideas (like
in the "fried liver").} (3... Nc6) (3... Nf6) 4. d4 (4. Nc3) 4... Qe7 {I don't
like this move but it's playable. now black will have to plat g6, Bg7. black
threatens to win a pawn.} 5. Nc3 (5. O-O exd4 6. Nxd4 Qxe4 $4 7. Re1) 5... c6 {
prevents Nd5.} 6. a4 {was a very tough choice to play a4 or not. b5 is not
such a big positional threat. similar structue we have in some Pirc lines.} (6.
O-O) (6. h3) 6... Bg4 7. dxe5 (7. d5) 7... Bxf3 $2 {no reason at all to break
the pin and give away the 2 bishops.} (7... dxe5) 8. Qxf3 (8. exd6 {not in my
style.} Bxd1 9. dxe7 Bxe7 10. Nxd1) 8... dxe5 {white is much better.} 9. Be3 {
an idea is Bc5.} (9. O-O) 9... Nd7 10. Rd1 (10. O-O-O {was a bit afraid as b4
is weak.}) 10... Ngf6 11. O-O a6 (11... Rd8 12. Bxa7 $6 Qb4) 12. Bb3 {Qb4 was
a threat.} (12. a5 Qb4 13. Rxd7 $1 Kxd7 14. Qf5+) (12. Ne2) 12... O-O-O (12...
Nc5) 13. Qe2 (13. Rd2 {better.}) 13... g5 (13... Qb4) 14. Qc4 Rh7 $2 (14... Qe6
) 15. Nd5 $1 (15. a5 $6 Qb4) 15... Nxd5 $6 (15... Qd6) 16. exd5 {ofc not with
the rook. i threaten to ruin the pawn structure and expose the king.} Nb8 {
very passive.} 17. c3 {to stop Qb4.} (17. Qe4) (17. Bb6) 17... f5 18. a5 (18.
d6 Qd7 (18... Rxd6 $4 19. Bc5 Rxd1 20. Bxe7 Rxf1+ 21. Qxf1 Rxe7)) 18... f4 $6
19. Bb6 Rd7 {white is positionally winning, but still work to be done in a
practical game.} 20. Bc2 Rf7 21. b4 $2 (21. Bg6 Rf6 22. Bh5 {try to skewer the
rook and the king.}) (21. dxc6 $1 Nxc6 22. Rxd7 Qxd7 23. Rd1 Qe7 (23... Bd6 24.
Rxd6 Qxd6 25. Qxf7) 24. Rd8+ $1 Qxd8 25. Bxd8 Kxd8 26. Qxf7 {missed it.}) 21...
Qf6 22. Ba7 (22. g4) (22. Be4) 22... f3 23. g3 {black may have some counter
play on the king side.} h5 24. Bxb8 $6 (24. Be4 {no need to hurry.}) 24... Kxb8
25. dxc6 {wrong plan.} Rc7 $2 (25... Qxc6 26. Qxc6 bxc6 {white is only
slightly better.}) 26. Be4 Be7 $6 (26... Bg7) 27. b5 $1 axb5 28. Qxb5 Qe6 {a
nasty move. the threat is ofc Qh3} 29. Qd3 $2 (29. Bd5 $1 {works.} Qh3 30. Bxf3
Rxf3 31. a6 {and black's situation is hopeless.}) (29. a6 Qh3 30. Bxf3 Rxf3 31.
cxb7) (29. Rd3) 29... Qf6 30. Rb1 Bc5 31. Rxb7+ (31. Qb5) 31... Rxb7 32. cxb7
h4 33. g4 (33. Qb5) 33... Rf8 34. Rb1 $6 Qf4 (34... Rd8) 35. Bf5 {no rook
sacrifice on f5 as I take with the queen and protect g4. white is winning, but
the tension is high in time touble.} Bxf2+ $1 {missed it in this move order.}
36. Kh1 (36. Kxf2 {very tough decision to take in time trouble.} Qxh2+ 37. Kxf3
Qg3+ 38. Ke2 Qh2+ 39. Kd1 {and white king escapes.}) 36... e4 37. Qxe4 {panic.}
(37. Qd7 $1) 37... Qxe4 38. Bxe4 {now it's equal, due to opposite color
bishops, black's strong passer and position of white king.} Re8 39. Rb4 (39.
Bxf3 Re1+ 40. Rxe1 Bxe1 41. Kg2 Bxc3 {and this a draw. but white can put some
pressure.}) 39... h3 $1 {very annoying move to meet with 1 minute on the clock.
} 40. Rc4 {always to have Rc8+.} Bc5 $1 {and I must take.} 41. Rxc5 Rxe4 42.
Kg1 Rxg4+ {it's a draw, but black must be very precise.} 43. Kf2 Rg2+ 44. Kxf3
g4+ 45. Kf4 Kxb7 46. Rg5 Rc2 47. Kxg4 Rxc3 $6 {gives white chances to create h
passer.} (47... Rxh2) 48. Rh5 (48. Rg6 $1) 48... Ra3 49. Rxh3 Rxa5 {the losing
move.} (49... Ra4+ 50. Kf5 Rxa5+ {with check.}) 50. Rf3 $6 {loss of clear
thinking.} (50. Rd3 {the king is cut-off and even h pawn promotes.}) 50... Kc7
51. h4 Kd7 52. h5 Ke7 53. h6 Ra1 $4 (53... Ra8 54. Kh5 {closer to a draw.}) 54.
h7 Ra8 55. Kg5 Rh8 56. Kg6 {insane.} 1-0
